ズルくないかな…

I don't wanna get in the way of those cheery smiles
So I swallowed my tears of happiness

I'm sure that if even a tiny gap opens in the conversation
They'll notice me, so I say something like, "…Thanks"
But suddenly, this weird voice comes out…

While she pointed her finger at the vast sky
To mislead them, she said this sorta thing:
"You found the first evening star, didn't you?"^{[Notes 1]}
And, "I'm the one who should be thanking you"

With my uniform sleeve, I wipe away something
That tastes salty…

If we walk a little farther, we'll reach the intersection I kinda hate
'Cos it turns the prickling inside my heart into an ache
Everyone dispersed, telling each other those words
Alone on a different path… I waved my hand

The quiet sound of the keychain rubbing against my bag
Mingling with the ring of the wind's chill
Carries along the loneliness of the twilight

But suddenly, she embraced me in a hurry
"Can we talk about the stars just a little more?"
She said through my shirt in a warm voice
And I noticed that she was trembling

"Didn't you hear me just now…? You're not alone…!" I told her
I hope that wasn't unfair of me to say…

I looked up at the night sky, brimming with the Milky Way
That star from earlier isn't all on its own
It's farewelling… the me from yesterday
And telling me I should shine bright as I sing

Everyone gave me, everyone showed me
A side of myself I didn't know about
Hey, it's okay if this kinda dream
Of the future makes my heart pound, right?

For the first time, I learned: memories can make me laugh
And they're things that can make me cry, too…
